Accounting/Office Manager for Mechanical Contractor
Position Summary:
The Accounting/Office manager will serve as the leader of the accounting department and will direct and lead the department in all Company accounting functions, including tasks like Cash/AR, Payroll, AP, internal and external reporting and compliance requirements. The Accounting/Office manager will also be expected to serve as a key leader within the organization to help facilitate continued growth, adherence to the Company’s core values, and build teamwork and communication with accounting and other departments.
General Job Duties:
· All employees are responsible for a basic knowledge of the employee handbook, along with the mission and vision of the hiring firm and must conduct themselves with behavior that supports these values.
· All employees are responsible for making the most of their working time and reach maximum potential by being on time for appointments, checking voicemails/emails as appropriate and completing deadlines in a timely manner.
· All full-time employees are required to work at least 30 hours a week per FLSA guidelines.
· All employees are expected to escalate issues as necessary.
· All employees must conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner as outlined in the hiring firms code of ethics and conduct, as found in the Company handbook.
· All employees will specifically be trained on their job duties, however; other coaching & development opportunities may be deemed appropriate by management for one or all members of the team. These opportunities will be sponsored by the Company.
· All employees must occasionally collaborate with the leadership team to create, revise, and maintain accurate job descriptions.
· Other projects and/or duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
· Leads and directs all accounting functions, reporting and systems including General Accounting, Cash/AR, Payroll, Tax, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset, Internal and External Reporting, Compliance, systems automation and other required special projects.
· Manages all department income statements and financial reporting in a timely and organized manner.
· Manages direct reports within the accounting department to ensure required tasks are being completed in a timely manner.
· Ensures accurate and on-time production of periodic financial reports.
· Maintains an adequate system of accounting records, a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, and enhances the accuracy of the Company’s reported financial results.
· Holds Project Manager’s and the Operations department accountable.
· Drives process improvements and serves as the key liaison between accounting and all other departments within the Company.
· Strictly adheres to ethical practices when it comes to role and department responsibilities, and encourages the team to abide by the Company’s core values in their day-to-day functions.
· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to leadership and other staff members.
· Maintain the upmost confidentiality as it pertains to client and Company information.
· Other duties as assigned.
Cross Training Requirements:
· This position will be responsible to cross-train in all accounting functions. This position will also be responsible for training new hires and direct reports on all accounting functions.

Required Skills and Experience:
· Ability to operate in a professional capacity in Microsoft Office, with high proficiency in Excel.
· Highly proficient in ERP systems required.
o Experience with Spectrum/Viewpoint (Trimble) required.
· Professional-level communication, both written and oral.
· Demonstrated leadership abilities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
· Experience: 5 years in the construction industry in an accounting function; 5-10 years of accounting experience required.
Language Requirements:
The primary language of Hiring firm is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to:
· Actively listen for total comprehension;
· Ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic;
· Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms.
Mathematical Requirements:
This position requires an expert-level understanding of financial & statistical analysis and configuring basic and/or advanced inferences. Expert-level accounting knowledge is required, as well as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills to the general degree.
Reasoning Ability Requirements:
Professional-level, reasoning abilities are necessary to process complex information, delegate duties (as necessary), and prioritize deadlines. This individual must be an expert at communicating financial information leadership, with the goal of creating meaning, value and a positive outcome in each conversation.
Physical Requirements:
· Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs. may be necessary from time to time.
· Must be able to sit for long periods of time, view a computer monitor, and type (up to 8 hours a day).
FLSA Status:
Exempt employees are defined legally as working at least 30 hours per week, however; full-time positions at Hiring firm generally require 40 hours per week. Occasionally, time over 40 hours may be necessary in order to meet the requirements of the position. They are considered full-time, paid an annual salary and are eligible for all employee benefits.
Schedule Expectations:
The Company’s normal hours of operation are from Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
: This position requires a minimum of 40 hours worked within a week and the schedule may be flexible as determined in the employee handbook. As long as performance expectations are met, salaried employees may be flexible with his or her schedule on occasion, subject to preapproval of one’s direct supervisor.
