The perfect team member for this position will have a strong understanding of complex tax laws and the ability to apply those to specific situations. The perfect team member will have a bachelor's degree, minimum of five years experience in tax preparation, knowledge of relevant tax laws, minimum of one year experience supervising other team members, have a CPA or EA license, and a commitment to customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Manage their designated tax team effectively and ensure maximum use of capacity appropriately, productivity and efficiency targets are met.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all federal, state, and local income tax returns.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities during audits.
- Conduct thorough research on tax issues and opportunities to optimize the organization's tax position.
- Implement tax planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities and maximize cash flow.
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Provide training and development to the team in line with organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax provisions for financial reporting purposes.
- Review for technical and quality purposes. Provide feedback and support to team where applicable.
- Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial disclosures related to taxes.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and tax laws to ensure compliance.
- Identify and assess potential tax risks and implement strategies to mitigate such risks.
- Make recommendations to clients aligned with company objectives
- Monitor policies and procedures and suggest improvements for tax reporting and recording procedures
- Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance
- Continue ongoing education by participating in webinars, in-person events, and workshops
- Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients by understanding focus and needs, and anticipating them in advance
- Coordinate internal and external resources to manage and expedite workflow
- Manage communication between Director of Tax and designated tax team – in office, remote or virtual
- Stay current with company offerings and industry trends
- Achieve tax team goals while upholding best practices
- Support and solve problems for clients by understanding and exceeding their expectations
- Illustrate the value of products and services to create growth opportunities; compile and analyze data to identify trends
- Participate in brainstorming, office activities, team meetings and client meetings, researching and assisting with program development for existing clients and new prospects
- Perform prospecting activities as directed by management
- Follow up with clients regularly to ensure needs are being met and identify opportunities.
- Maintain a database of clients, prospects, partners, and vendors
- Ensure all financial records comply with internal policies.
Compensation: $90-110K annually, depending upon experience.
