Job Description:
Position Overview: The Senior Tax Associate will play a crucial role in managing and executing bookkeeping and tax return preparation for our diverse client base. This position requires a strong background in tax accounting, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns
- Conduct comprehensive bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records and reconciling accounts
- Provide tax planning and consulting services to clients
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on their tax status
- Assist with tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations and apply this knowledge to client engagements
- Participate in firm initiatives, such as process improvements and business development activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification preferred, but not required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation and bookkeeping
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in a CPA firm environment preferred
