With guidance, the Designer I performs in a self-directed manner all aspects of the Interior Design process including preparation of materials, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, and construction of administration activities within an established budget with specific scheduling, site and programmatic requirements. A Designer I supports parts of or an entire project depending on scope in conjunction with team leadership.
EDUCATION
Bachelor Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a CIDA-accredited or NAAB-accredited program
EXPERIENCE
Entry level to 2 years of post-graduate professional Design experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
GENERAL SKILLS
· Proficient written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrate collaborative and professional work ethic
· Self-directed and motivated
· Complete comprehensive project tasks efficiently in a prescribed time frame with average feedback / redlines from team leadership
JOB REQUIRED SKILLS
· Proficient experience with construction materials / finishes and FF&E specifications/providers
· Proficient experience in project design specifications, construction documentation and shop drawing review
· Proficient in in AutoCAD (current release preferred), InDesign, Photoshop and SketchUp
· Proficient understanding of specification writing (SPEXX experience preferred)
· Proficient understanding of design principals, theories, color and materials
· Able to complete project tasks in accordance with project schedules
· Perform Quality Control exercises on one’s own work
