Purpose
Assist internal and external customers by developing, maintaining, and enhancing administrative applications used by University Housing and Dining (UHD). Serve as a technical expert in the decision-making process of upgrading current software system with newer technologies and/or third-party software as needed.
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance current custom legacy software systems, Python / Django, Oracle, and SQL systems used by UHD staff and customers. Develop new applications on modern platforms based on business needs with a focus on customer requests.
Develop, maintain, and enhance systems integrations between current and future UHD systems. Systems include but are not limited to CS Gold, Micros, CCURE, StarRez, Mainframe, and Workday. Utilize available emerging technologies. Prioritize automation of processes over manual interactions wherever possible.
Manage tickets that have been submitted in the Ticket system and proactively research, problem-solve, and reply to customers in a timely manner. Work with team members and leadership to identify areas of potential improvement.
Stay current on campus technology changes to include formal and informal training and participation with campus groups focusing on technology. Collaborate and knowledge-share with other developers/analysts in system design principles.
Assist with training users on new and updated software, including reporting on new features and enhancements. Update documentation according to new functionality.
Participate in all relevant UHD meetings, events, classes, and training. Interact with other IT and business areas on campus as needed. Perform special projects, tasks, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an IT-related field.
Experience with University Housing and Dining systems.
Experience with a version control system such as Git.
Basic understanding of relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, document, and debug code.
Experience with The University of Texas IT environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities and tasks.
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and tasks, adhering to established deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and work well with clients.
Salary Range
$75,000+ depending on qualifications
