About Postpartum Patients
- As part of the obstetrical service Blake and Ellison13 cares for Postpartum patients.
- The patient care delivery model is Family Centered Care with an emphasis on birthing people and babies rooming in together to enhance the bonding experience.
- The unit also has a nursery for newborns that meet level I or level II criteria as determined by DPH regulation and medical evaluation.
- RN is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate nursing care for patients and families through Patient Care Team approach.
- RN ensures that care is safe, efficient, effective, timely and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.
About the Postpartum Team
- Supportive nursing leadership including Nursing Director and unit-based Master’s prepared Nursing Practice Specialist.
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork.
- Competencies preferred include blood transfusion, IV blood draws, newborn care, lactation support, post partum care of vaginal and cesarean births.
- Opportunities to advance your practice include resource nurse to manage the day-to-day activities, preceptor to new nurses and students, participation in Collaborative Governance Committees, clinical recognition program/ladder.
