JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Inspector Level I is responsible for inspecting product fit and weld quality within the plant, ensuring that product inspections and quality control procedures are carried through as defined in the product specs, and meet the standards required by our customers/end-user.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensures the guidelines, procedures, specifications and reports in the product blueprints are executed at the plant level and works with Supervisors to submit suggested improvements to the Plant Manager as needed.
- Ensures that quality standards are maintained and communicated to all plant employees.
- Interprets test results, compares them to established specifications and control limits, and makes recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
- Performs visual inspections (VT) of finished products.
- Performs penetrant testing (PT) on in-process and finished products.
- Performs magnetic particle testing (MT) on in-process and finished products.
- Compiles test data and submits it to Level II for analyses and approval.
- Completes documentation needed to support testing procedures, including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
- Trains associates as needed.
- Participates in Quality Meetings and follows up on action items and improvements agreed upon.
- Provides Quality reference materials as needed, consisting of component standards, design folders, customer specifications, defect guides, etc.
- Maintains new start up approval process and ensures quick resolution of all nonconformances to specifications.
- Monitors and ensures clear rework/repair instructions are implemented to meet customer and compliance requirements.
- Reports quality issues at plant level and reports defects over allowable specifications to the Plant Manager and/or Level II.
- Maintains control of inspection, rework/repair, and reports details of quality issues in log.
- Enters data for daily incoming, in process, and final product audits in SharePoint or on other forms as per quality procedures. Follows record retention guidelines.
- Reviews quality audit data and acts with production team associates to make the necessary changes to improve product and process controls.
- Reports chronic quality control issues to Plant Leadership/Management.
- Complies with company and safety guidelines.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A High School Diploma required.
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience.
- Experience in quality assurance for production welding manufacturing is required.
- Displays the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Strong computer and report writing skills required.
- ASME Section VIII and IX experience/training preferred.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- ASNT-SNT-TC-1A Level I or II preferred.
COMPETENCIES
KNOWLEDGE:
- Microsoft Office Suite; ERP systems, ADP, Epicor and/or D365 is beneficial. Familiarity with EPM tools (e.g., Hyperion, TM1, etc.) preferred.
- Mathematics-Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Materials — Knowledge of material science, including their properties and interaction with other products in the system.
- English Language-Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
- Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
