Interns will be assigned to a department based on the candidate's background, skill set and interests. The assignments are project-oriented, meaningful to the department and allow the intern to provide valuable contributions. Interns that demonstrate outstanding qualities may be invited back for a return internship the following summer or may be considered for full-time positions.

Department Details:
Battery Workforce Competition Engineering Summer interns will be assigned to a group within Propulsion Systems based on the candidate's technical background and interests with a focus on electrification The assignment is project-oriented, meaningful to the department, allows the intern to take responsibility for a major task, and allows the intern to experience a sense of personal accomplishment and contribution. Interns will get to experience corporate business culture and gain the communication and etiquette skills required. They'll gain consideration for direct placement into our Chrysler Institute of Engineering (CIE) Trainee Program. They'll also get to share knowledge gained from recent courses and further develop computer skills and learn new systems and software.
Internship Format
The format for this internship will be in-person. In-person assignments will involve on-site work at the Stellantis Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan or Chelsea Proving Grounds.
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
- Major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering at an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program; other Engineering degrees from an ABET accredited university programs (Aerospace/Aeronautical, Agricultural, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Computer Science, Materials, Mechatronics, Metallurgical, Software) or related field will be considered if the candidate exhibits the desired characteristics to fill an opening
within the intern program
- Strong interest in the Automotive Industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of Freshman year by Summer of 2024
- 3.0 or higher GPA based on a 4.0 scale
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills along with excellent organization skills
- Must exhibit strong leadership characteristics
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Computer proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office application
