GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Education and Student Services, the Science Teacher plans and provides for appropriate educational experiences for students who have a wide range of learning, behavioral, and emotional disabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; creates a flexible program and learning environment that will allow students to succeed.
SCHEDULE & SALARY:

Monday - Friday 7:30am-2:00pm

Traditional 180-day school year with 25 half days in the Summer

Salary range between $50,000-$64,000 based on qualifications, education, certifications and experience.

There is a $5,000 incentive
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate program for science education
-
CSDE certification in Comprehensive General Science (#034 or other science related cert).

Experience with teaching students in middle and high school programs
-
Experience with developing a positive classroom culture/environment based on diverse student needs

In-depth understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), CT Common Core Curriculum, and Project-Based Learning.

Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students.

Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect consistent with school policies and procedures.

Use technology to assist in developing, providing and supporting instruction for special education students.

Confer with administrators, social workers, and other professionals to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social/emotional development.
