Indeck Energy, a leader in the development and operation of renewable and conventional power generation, is seeking a Vice President of Business Development. Reporting to Indeck’s President, the Vice President of Business Development will provide strategic direction and lead business development activities for renewable power generation opportunities for the company in the United States. Join Indeck Energy as we execute our sustainable development strategy focused primarily on renewable generation (solar PV and battery storage) and expand our team with experienced, highly motivated professionals.

Responsibilities:

Non-remote position. Must report into the Buffalo Grove, IL. office.

Develop strategic market assessments, make recommendations and secure executive approval of development strategy opportunity, and direction.

Assist in identifying real estate development sites and land procurement.

Secure project sites and lead all development activities through financial close for a pipeline of utility scale solar, hybrid solar plus storage, and standalone energy storage projects, including land use, engineering studies, transmission interconnection, outreach and negotiations with EPC, equipment suppliers and O&M providers, environmental permitting and consultations, public relations, and tax abatement.

Lead origination and negotiation of power purchase agreements and asset transactions.

Coordinate closely with internal business units and outside consultants to assure successful project development.

Oversee and participate directly in public relations and regulatory affairs for existing projects and new development.

Lead and grow the business development team in support of company growth.

Maintain a deep understanding of the electric power industry.

Represent and market Indeck Energy at industry conferences and events.
Desired Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or a related field required.

Graduate study including an MBA a plus.

Experience in Real Estate Development, Land Procurement a plus

10-15 years or more of proven experience in electric power project development, with a clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with early to mid-stage development.

Successful, demonstrable track record in the development of renewable energy and/or energy storage projects.

Strong leadership skills and self-motivated.

Commercial acumen and the willingness to learn and grow professionally.

Strong, demonstrated understanding of power project structuring.

Ability to understand key business drivers.

Effective at producing and summarizing relevant information quickly to help drive decision-making.

Proven ability to understand, negotiate, and execute real estate contracts and power purchase agreements.

Ability to build and maintain business relationships and consensus with stakeholders across the business and at all levels.

Demonstrated ability to write effective, concise reports, presentations and other written communications.

Proficient with the Microsoft Office package, including Microsoft Project.
