Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Director of Retail Operations, the Territory Manager is responsible for leading retail sales achievement, profit generation, regulatory compliance, loss prevention, safety, merchandising, and manager and employee development. Must be service-oriented, results-driven, and have a people-centered approach with a clear focus on performance accountability and employee development. The Manager’s leadership will contribute to maximizing the retail net profit by driving sales and controlling costs throughout the retail organization. Furthermore, they must effectively support this achievement by building motivated and high performing teams through effective leadership and line management to staff. The Territory Manager is accountable for performance across the organization and accordingly is empowered to make decisions on all aspects of the operation including helping to formulate strategy and define the tactics that will allow this strategy to come to fruition.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsibilities:
- Lead retail teams and managers to effect sales and provide an outstanding customer experience
- Direct and monitor the performance of direct reports in accordance with business plan and strategy
- Assist in the creation of budgets and forecasts for retail operations, seeking to meet sales & profitability projects
- Contribute to the strategic direction and development of the company, participate in the decision-making process for new initiatives, projects, and procedures
- Lead new market development including the opening of new locations and integration of existing ones
- Develop and implement a long-range execution strategy to ensure that stores across the company are meeting or exceeding their forecasted sales plans
- Work cross-functionally with all departments to ensure each locations needs are being met and they have the tools needed to execute their sales plans
- Spend time in locations with retail teams and customers to understand and identify business-critical issues in order to ensure the alignment of tactics and strategies
- Accountable for achievement of goals and oversight of the financial components of all dispensary operations
- Translate the strategic goals into retail operational plans to meet the required targeted growth in sales and profit
- Generate ideas about future retail activities to ensure a cutting-edge strategy; maintain up to date knowledge of the marketplace, competitors and trends
- Influence and support the retail element of the annual budget process ensuring understanding and buy-in from the operations team. Regularly review financial data.
- Monitor and track results of sales promotions and work with Store Managers to develop and implement incentives that support the business development and growth goals
- Conduct regular reviews of dispensary performance through store visits, observing compliance with best practices, policies, and procedures while maintaining
- Ensure all employees have accurate, up-to-date knowledge and materials related to their position
- Take a lead role in building a strong service culture with the operations team; spends time coaching Store Managers, identifying skills and opportunities for development; provides advice and guidance when needed
- Work with the HR to ensure people management issues are satisfactorily resolved and relevant HR policies and procedures are adhered to
- Proactively manage and review the performance and progress of Store Managers based on objectives and targets
- Monitor employee occupational health, turnover, and job satisfaction. Engage with employees to learn new ways to improve the working environment and partner with HR on potential solutions
- Build a deep talent bench for leaders by driving the succession planning and selection process
- Operate with honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times
- Work with the Store Managers to assure that the operational functions run smoothly and according to policies and procedures
- Ensure that the retail operation complies with all policies and procedures relating to Security, Health and Safety; influence any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements, ensuring minimum risk to staff members and the business
- Other projects/tasks as requested by direct manager
- Must be willing and able to occasionally work a schedule as business needs demand, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Qualifications:
- Servsafe Manager Certified a plus
- 5 years of progressive retail experience managing multiple sites
- Experience leading large, diverse, and remote teams as well as a demonstrable track record of working in an autonomous role /position
- Demonstrable experience successfully delivering on year-over-year same-store growth
- Solid track record of increasing and sustaining sales growth and profitability even in challenging market conditions such as the current economic climate
- Excellent computer skills with abilities in POS software and knowledge of Office applications
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment
- Flexible and adaptable, able to change and alter according to changes in projects or business environment
- Proven ability to build and manage teams effectively and drive collective success
- Decisive and solution-oriented; Able to resolve complicated issues for customers and employees
- Capable of consistently exuding a positive and enthusiastic persona
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to relate with customers, vendors and other levels of the organization effectively
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to travel to all locations within the business unit for regular site visits.
