About the position:
Helmut's Marine Service is an Authorized Volvo Penta Power Center for CA, HI, AZ, NM, NV, UT, and Guam. In our role as the Power Center, we recognize the pivotal position we hold in supporting our territory with the most efficient and reliable power solutions. To strengthen our commitment, we are seeking a dedicated Sales Representative who will collaborate closely with Volvo Penta dealers, independent shops, boat builders, fleet operators, boat yards, and brokers as a trusted partner. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the technical nuances of various engine packages, enabling them to proficiently convey this information to clients. Moreover, the successful candidate will have a keen insight into the market dynamics and be attuned to the wants and needs of our customers. In this role, proactive approaches to increasing engine sales are crucial, and we are eager to welcome an individual who can envision and implement strategies to propel our territory to new heights in the marine power industry. Essential Functions
- The primary duties of this position will be to actively promote engine sales in the assigned territory.
- Establish and maintain relationships with marine end users, fleets, brokers, and OEMs to promote Helmut’s Marine Service’s products and services.
- Act as a liaison between the customer and company as needed to ensure that the customers’ needs are adequately met.
- Secure product orders, conducts surveys of assigned territory, studies product population, locate new prospects and determine prospects’ needs from new and existing customers.
- Plan sales calls, make presentations, point out the benefits of the products, parts, and services the company offers and emphasize the advantages of dealing with the company.
- Assist customers in solving problems, provides technical assistance for new applications as needed, assists in keeping customers up to date on new developments and product features.
- Actively identify and develop new customer contacts to expand market share.
- Keep informed on new business opportunities; settle complaints, establish, and maintain personal relations with customers; assist at exhibits, demonstrations, and meetings.
- Keep familiar with new products developed by the company and by competition, keep company informed of changes which can affect performance, and implement strategies of how we might respond from a technical innovation perspective.
- Ensure that customers are kept up to date regarding new product features and developments.
- Maintain a system for keeping literature, brochures, price sheets, etc. neat and up to date.
- Maintain records of calls, makes reports as required, works according to plan, follow up on all leads, contract lettings and inquiries, controls travel, telephone, and entertainment expenses.
- Maintain a high degree of sales professionalism through study and attendance at meetings and association activities.
- Follow-up to ensure equipment is correctly delivered and meets all the conditions of the sale; take action to render prompt service in case of any deficiencies.
- Maintain a close liaison and cooperative relationship with company Parts Manager, Service Manager, Engineering, and other sales personnel.
- Advise superiors of all changes in territory which can affect company success.

Preferred Education/Experience & Requirements:
- Experience with Marine Systems preferred.
- Experience in distribution, industrial and/or heavy equipment a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- A self-starter who can identify the strengths present in a location and utilize those strengths to develop a positive business plan.
- Provide technical support, guidance, examples, and other technical arguments to support and influence customer solutions.
- Proven background in sales
- Bonus: if you have background in engineering and can create overlays
- Leverage application engineering tools and processes to support field requests for technology solutions beyond product.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Frequent travel by vehicle, in a company provided car, can be expected in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah on a regular basis. Air travel within the US should be expected on occasion.

The employee is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb ladders, walk docks, climb in and out of boats. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
