Lake Forest High School District 115 is seeking a creative, experienced, and engaging part-time (0.6 FTE) Art teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.
Description: The Art Teacher will have an emphasis in painting, drawing, and photography. Disciplines taught could vary from year to year. The candidate should have a strong command of designing, delivering and assessing student growth in an environment that incorporates inquiry, feedback, critical thinking, and effective assessment practices for all students. The candidate will be part of a very collaborative Art team that works together to creatively support each other and the growth of students. Please be prepared to share a personal portfolio of work with an emphasis on the subjects listed above. The schedule will likely include 2 courses first semester and 4 courses second semester.
Essential Functions:
- Fosters a creative, flexible and enthusiastic environment that serves and inspires student engagement and learning
- Utilizes flexibility, creativity, and initiative in curriculum creation and delivery
- Maintains positive and professional relationships with administration, Board of Education, faculty/staff and parents
- Cooperatively plans and participates in multiple art shows each school year
- Cooperatively facilitates dialogue with our feeder school art programs
- Demonstrate exceptional content knowledge and pedagogical skill in art, with the ability to adapt instruction to suit a diverse range of student backgrounds and interests
- Employ effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with students, faculty, and parents, to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Facilitate a classroom environment that encourages student collaboration and discourse, enhancing the learning experience for all.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and refine course learning objectives, common assessments, and curricula.
- Participate in team-based approaches to student remediation and the continuous enhancement of instructional practices.
- Partner with Special Education and Student Services to meet the needs of identified students.
- Use technology proficiently and ethically for planning, collaboration, instruction, and assessment.
Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Art endorsement
- Master's Degree from an accredited program - preferred
- Experience teaching Art at the High School level - preferred
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetitive motions are required. The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside environmental conditions and is subject to noises associated with both office and educational environments.
