AgriPlex Genomics was formed in 2014 with the goal of creating a resource for agricultural genotyping. We specialize in focused analysis of DNA samples in support of animal and plant breeders. Our proprietary technology allows us to partner with breeders and researchers to identify desirable traits, leading to healthier and more productive crops and livestock. We are currently seeking an Associate Scientist for this important work.
Responsibilities:
- Following established protocols, the scientist will produce DNA sequencing libraries for Next-Gen short-read sequencers
- Maintain thorough electronic documentation for sequencing projects
- Receive, maintain, and track relevant reagent stocks
- Track sequencing performance, lead performance troubleshooting issues; coordinate repair efforts with external partners (sequencing equipment manufacturers’ engineers and field application scientists) as necessary
- Lead sequencing department improvement projects
- Maintain up-to-date sequencing protocols and templates
- Collaborate with team leads to ensure that sequencing projects are being processed in a timely manner
- Perform testing/qualification of new lab equipment / DNA sequencers
- Contribute to Product Development research projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Molecular Biology/Biotech with two years experience in next-gen sequencing preparation OR Masters degree in Molecular Biology/Biotech
- Experience with next-generation DNA sequencers and library preparation methods
- Competence with basic molecular biology techniques including use of micropipettes and essential molecular biology lab equipment
- Ability to execute protocols correctly and efficiently based on standard operating procedures
- Competence with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn computer programs quickly
- Able to manage time independently to meet deadlines
- Able to plan and prioritize competing demands to optimize turn-around time and cost-efficiencies
- Ability to work flexibly within a team, in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to lift packages of up to 15 pounds
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
