PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Act as a primary point of contact for surgery patients to ensure understanding of surgical procedures and answer questions or concerns.
· Interact with patients, physicians, and other staff both within the clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate and timely information
· Coordinate and schedule surgeries and follow-up appointments as designated by the physicians.
· Coordinate all paperwork required to meet physician and facility requirements.
· Recognize and respond appropriately to time sensitive situations per protocols.
· Discuss financial counseling and collect fees associated with surgery.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
· High school diploma required.
· 1+ years surgery scheduling or related experience. Ophthalmology experience preferred.
· Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
· Knowledge of medical insurance concepts such as deductibles, co-insurance, verification of benefits, out of pocket costs.
· NextGen EMR experience is helpful, but not required.
