Job Description for Piping, Fittings, Valves and General Mechanical Inspector
***This position is a 1099 Independent Contractor for ad hoc work in the area. (as needed, call out).
Experience: Should have 5 to 10 years experience in QA/QC for Piping, Fittings, Valves, General Mechanical equipment/ relevant certifications.
Equipment inspected: Should have done inspections on –
- Pipes
- Fittings – Elbows, Tees, Flanges
- Valves – Gate, Globe, Check, Knife Gate, NRV, Pressure safety, Actuated
- Plates
- Structural items – I-Beam, C-Channel, Angles, Bars
- Orifice
Detailed inspection experience:
- Witness Factory acceptance test for valves
- Hydrostatic test for seat/body of vales, pipes, fittings
- NDE / NDT
- Read and interpret drawings
- MTC review
- Witness lab testing
- Visual and Dimensional inspection
Educational Requirement: Associate degree with QA/QC experience or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Certifications: Not mandatory, but better to have knowledge of API 598, Relevant ASME standards
Additional Requirements: Should be able to prepare good Inspection reports using MS Word. Should be able to work with different reporting tools.
