STS is seeking multiple experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics for its Buffalo location. These are full-time positions and pay will be competitive based on education-level and experience.

STS carries a complete line of tractor-trailers, heavy and light-duty truck equipment, Kalmar Ottawa Yard Trucks, and an expansive selection of parts inventory to fit the needs of its customers. We have branches in Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, and Albany, New York.
Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair trailers and heavy/light truck equipment and complete installation of truck equipment including without limitation: snowplows, liftgates, hoists, van and dump bodies
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on trailer and truck equipment including routine technical repairs and make recommendations for future repairs
- Document work order details within the Company’s internal order and billing program
- Abide by all policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment
- Work independently and finish jobs at the quoted time on brake systems, hydraulics, welding, riveting, metal fabrication, trailer body and floor repairs, suspension troubleshooting and repairs, door repairs, and other trailer and truck equipment systems of all types.
Qualifications:
- Active Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Must provide own tools
- Demonstrate diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs
- The ability to demonstrate successful welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with other employees, management, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diesel Engine Experience
- CDL Certification
- NYS Heavy Motor Vehicle Inspector
Applicant Must Be Able To:
- Walk, stand, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time
- Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts
- Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and tools; determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work
- Demonstrate the ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical, and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibrations, etc.
- Must be able to lift the maximum weight permitted under applicable regulations for the position
- Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment
