POSITION SUMMARY
The Lab Instructor is responsible for assisting in student learning through a computer based instructional program, and supports student instruction, learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES-
Assist in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities through the computer based instructional program.

Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills through the computer based instructional program.

Operate, manage, secure and care for classroom lab equipment.

Help students master equipment or instructional materials.

Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remediation.

Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.

Communicate regularly with the counselor regarding progress of student coursework.

Alert the appropriate parties of problems or special information about an individual student.

Help prepare/organize instructional materials for students.

Reinforce safety in the classroom.
-
Establish and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Assist with supporting lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.

Assist in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
-
Strive to implement the district and campus philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.

Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.

Participate in district staff development as needed.

Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as needed.

Adhere to district and campus procedures.

Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS -
Associates Degree or a minimum of 60 college semester hours; Bachelors Degree preferred

Experience working in a school setting with diverse student populations, parents, and other stakeholders
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS -
Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology.

Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and instructional materials/supplies.

This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.
- This position may require prolonged or irregular hours.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the states department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.
