Purpose of position:
Direct the activities of the Fabrication Department to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with delivery schedules and quality standards. Oversee Customer Service and Field Service operations. Also responsible for Application Engineering and Inventory Control. Responsible for Operations of the branch operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee personnel in the completion of all department work; ensure orders and installs are completed as scheduled.
Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment; maintain time and production records.
Interpret specifications and job orders to workers and assign duties; establish and/or adjust work procedures as necessary.
Analyze and resolve work problems; recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Responsible for Customer Service; sales support, and proper inventory levels.
Effectively lead and motivate supervisors and employees; maintain positive employee relations.
Maintain and increase knowledge of fabrication processes and related equipment.
Follow and enforce safety procedures at all times to prevent injuries and to avoid damage to company property.
Effectively communicate and cooperate with superiors, peers and subordinates to achieve company goals and objectives.
Regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Ensure tools and equipment are routinely checked and kept in proper working condition.
Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree; or 5 to 7 years Management level manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience with managing a fabrication department.
- Customer service background helpful.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively supervise/oversee numerous departmental employees.
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Position requires, but is not limited to the following demands/factors:
- Frequent standing and walking
- Occasional stooping, crouching, reaching and twisting
- Occasional use of keyboard to perform data entry
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less to be able to accurately read printed workshop order form and inspect precision work involving exact measurements of length, width and thickness of various belting material
- Hear and speak clearly and distinctly to understand and verbally communicate with others
