Hampton Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced, part-time (Mondays and Tuesdays/~ 20 hours per week), Veterinary Technician to join our top-notch team! We are a 2 doctor, cat and dog only practice. Prior experience working as a Veterinary Technician is a must in order to be considered for this position. Although it is not required, CVT certification is preferred.
Candidates must possess the ability to carry out the following tasks:
-Basic reception duties such as answering phones, schedule appointments, invoicing clients, record maintenance
-Patient triage including obtaining vital signs
-Proper patient restraint
-Obtain, record and present a thorough patient medical history
-Identify medical emergencies and initiate treatment as deemed necessary
-Carry out treatments per Doctor's orders including administering fluid therapy, medications (PO,SQ, IM and IV), nursing care, etc
-Educate clients regarding recommended services and products
-Venipuncture and IVC placement
-Collect samples and perform laboratory testing such as cytology, urinalysis, Chem/CBC, etc; as well as prepare samples to be sent to outside laboratories
-Perform radiographs using proper technique, while following radiology safety protocols
-Properly use and maintain medical equipment
-Drug calculations
-Anesthesia tasks such as administering anesthetic medications, patient intubation, anesthesia monitoring/recovery, proper record maintenance, etc
-Dental prophylaxis tasks such as scaling, polishing, charting, radiographs, proper record maintenance, etc
-Lift up to 50lbs
