Heavy Civil Equipment Operator/Laborer
Claude H. Nix Construction is a leader in Underground and Trenchless Construction. We are family owned and have been in business for over 45 years. We have an immediate need for an experienced Heavy Construction Equipment Operator. While on jobsites, you will be working on a crew to complete construction projects under the direction of a Field Foreman. Your assigned tasks will change as projects progress. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be expected to safely operate various pieces of heavy equipment while being constantly aware of your surroundings. You will work alongside your crewmembers in various laboring tasks related to completion of the project.
Responsibilities for the Heavy Construction Equipment Operator include:
- Live our Core Values: Safety, Honor, Communication, Innovation, and Strength.
- Safely and Proficiently operate and maintain various pieces of construction equipment. Some examples would be a rubber tired loader, excavator, rubber tired back hoe, auger bore machines, pilot tube micro-tunneler, caisson drill, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment operated. Grease and clean out cab of assigned equipment daily. Fill out hour and maintenance reports. Perform small repairs and report major repairs and damage of equipment to management.
- Labor on the crew, as needed. All crew members are Laborers, when required.
- Must be proficient in SAFELY and EFFICIENTLY operating an excavator and/or loader on an active excavation or pipe installation site. Pipe experience or deep excavation experience is a plus for the Heavy Construction Equipment Operator position.
- Help to maintain a safe and neat work site.
- Always work safe and use the proper tool and/or rigging for the task at hand.
Requirements for Heavy Construction Equipment Operator :
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a Heavy Construction Equipment Operator . No safety infractions or reportable accidents involving equipment operated by candidate. Experience must be in a loader (2.5 CY min), excavator (200 Size, min.), auger bore machine, caisson drill (Soilmec SR30), or tunnel bore machine.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation, you must have an automobile to get to work site.
- BE A SAFE WORKER
- Be in good physical condition. Be able to lift items in excess of 50 LBS.
- Have a good attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Class A CDL or Welding Certifications are a PLUS.
- Must be able to travel.
