Mobile Wound Care MD is seeking a reliable Medical Assistant to perform various offsite clinical duties to keep our healthcare mobile wound care running efficiently. Our Medical Assistant will work directly with healthcare practice staff to collect patient pictures, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations.
Responsibilities:
- Record patient information such as vital signs, weight and changes in medical history during the appointment.
- Treat complex wounds including diabetic ulcers, vascular wounds and trauma-related wounds.
- Work with healthcare teams to assess patients, manage wounds and monitor healing.
- Classified wounds using staging system based on visual evaluation of affected tissue.
- Minimized patient skin breakdown by devising and carrying out skin care plan.
- Managed draining wounds by providing appropriate wound care/dressings.
- Conducted wound assessments for patients and documented information.
- Educate patients, family members and caregivers on condition management.
- Communicate with family, patient, staff and physicians, when starting or adjusting treatment.
- Educate patients and family members on cleaning and dressing wounds and identifying signs of infection.
- Continually assess patient pain levels and applied appropriate pain management techniques.
- Providing direct and indirect patient care that includes consultations, assessment, diagnosis, education, planning and treatment of wounds, skin and ostomies
- Coordinating the medical care healthcare services to patients, under the supervision of a physician and concurrent with the standard of care protocols in Wound Care
- Consistently use best practice body mechanics during lifting and handling for your safety and that of residents
- Must be willing to travel.
Requirements
At least 1 year of experience in wound care or in similar environment
