Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the finance team, working directly with the CFO and having broad responsibility and visibility into a range of critical accounting and finance functions. This individual will be a self-starter, independent but curious and collaborative, who can take tasks with little direction and run with them, but also know when to ask for input or guidance. Additionally, this individual will have strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and diligence in meeting deadlines. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining regular reporting processes, financial recording and financial analysis in support of decision-making processes.
Responsibilities for Senior Accountant
· Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
· Prepare and analyze complex financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
· Create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations and roll out reconciliation procedures.
· Conduct variance analysis and identify trends to drive operational efficiencies and cost savings.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, including the implementation of new accounting standards.
· Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, including detailed variance analysis.
· Support external audits, including preparing audit schedules and addressing auditor inquiries.
· Sales & Use Tax compliance and state business registration
Qualifications for Senior Accountant
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 5 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on financial analysis and reporting.
· Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. Proficient in PowerPoint, and other Microsoft offerings (Power BI a plus).
· Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor a plus) and other financial software.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Self-starter who can execute with little direction or structure.
· Proven leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop junior staff members as needed.
