Position Description
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships to spearhead our efforts in positioning Conejo Valley as a premier visitor destination in Southern California. Reporting directly to the President/CEO and working closely with the Director of Tourism, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and cultivating strategic alliances to elevate the district's prominence within the tourism industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
· Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with the district's objectives and growth targets.
· Promote Conejo Valley as a premier visitor destination through conferences, industry events, hosted FAM tours, and community partnerships.
· Represent Visit Conejo Valley at travel industry shows across the United States, engaging with inbound travel marketing representatives, and establishing strategic regional branding partnerships.
· Follow up with leads generated from onsite activations, facilitating connections with local hotel partners and venue contacts to meet travelers' needs effectively.
Strategic Partnerships:
· Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including local businesses, government agencies, wedding & meeting planners, and industry associations.
· Attend industry events representing Visit Conejo Valley with organizations such as Visit California, Central Coast Tourism Council, Meeting Planners International (MPI), and other industry partners.
· Collaborate closely with marketing and PR agency partners to capitalize on potential business leads and optimize collaboration opportunities.
Job Requirements
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in tourism marketing, destination management, or a related field.
· Proven experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or related roles within the tourism industry.
· Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Familiarity with the tourism industry in California and the Central Coast region is preferred.
· Able to lift up to 30 pounds, bend or stoop, be able to sit or stand in place for long periods such as trade shows.
· Flexibility to travel and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
