Job Summary:
The Remote Senior System Engineer provides timely, high quality technical, and operational support at an enterprise level for hardware and virtual endpoints used by employees throughout the enterprise. The position utilizes best practices as defined by Independence Pet Group (IPG) policies and industry standards. The Senior System Engineer should be proficient in establishing proactive policies and procedures to support efficient roll-out and management of device endpoints. This role is responsible for specification, design, maintenance and deployment of effective and secure desktop images and applications on physical and virtual environments.

Main Responsibilities:
Design, construct, maintain computer operating system image deployment tools/systems
Create and maintain software installations, updates, images, configurations, and management scripts and systems for the endpoint technology platform
Monitor and troubleshoot wide scale endpoint issues in terms of updates, software, and/or drivers
Explore and test latest windows feature/OS upgrades before wide scale deployment
Create inventory reports and alerts using reporting capabilities of endpoint management platforms
Monitor alerts for remote machines and maintain awareness of current critical endpoint vulnerabilities
Package third party and internal company software for deployment with patch management
Develop profiles for simplified deployment of consistent groupings of applications / features for specific types of employees
Provide exceptional customer service and support via phone, email and in person
Identify and escalate complex problem reports or service requests to the next tier of support as appropriate
Work with other team members to ensure the timely completion of complex issues
Identify and deploy restrictions to limit permissions available by end-users on their machines
Design, document, and train IT department staff on (including, but not limited to):
Responsible for control and coordination of the release management process for the desktop
Periodically audit desktops to help ensure software licensing compliance
Make recommendations for migration and upgrade directions, trains business or technical staff on new procedures
Develop, test, and run appropriate scripts to facilitate endpoint management
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
Administration and troubleshooting knowledge of Microsoft platforms including Intune, MEM, MECM, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Autopilot, RMM
Utilization of Intune's functionality to enforce both mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM) best practices
Experience with Windows 10/11 and Mac OS X deployment
Knowledge of endpoint detection and response (EDR) software
PowerShell and command-line scripting
Legacy Active Directory and Group Policy
Migration of legacy AD computers to Hybrid or native cloud AD
Ability to test and evaluate new hardware and/or software and ability to articulate recommendations
Demonstrated competency in one (or more) scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell)
Awareness of corporate environments and their business requirements
Able to work independently as well in a team environment
Excellent written, oral, presentation and technical writing skills
Understanding of ITIL/Service Management processes
Ability to tactfully handle and articulate customer critical issues and work in a high stress environment
Perform self-directed learning in a rapidly changing environment
Strong organizational skills
Strong analytical ability and implementation skills
Experience: 6 year’s relevant experience
Preferred Experience:
Managing multiple workstations across multiple environments with MS Intune
Packaging and deployment, including the use of Autopilot
5+ years with Azure
5+ years with Office365 and its technologies (SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, etc.)
5+ years with MECM ecosystem (Intune, MEM, MDM, MAM)
5+ years with PowerShell Scripting
Education: Must meet one of the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college)
Associate’s degree in a Technical Field
Certification in relevant focus area
