Position Title: NC Pre-K Lead Teacher
Supervisor: Director
Job summary: The NC Pre-K Program is designed to provide high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible four-year-old children. The program requirements are built on the premise that students will be successful academically in school.
Responsibilities and duties of the job include but are not limited to the following:
● Prepare, plan, and implement lessons that teach students according to the objectives, methods, and techniques per The Creative Curriculum.
● Prepare and maintain a folder for substitute teachers which includes lesson plans, assigned duties and times, and emergency situation information.
● Prepare and submit lesson plans to the administrator as directed.
● Knowledge of ECER-S.
● Willing to complete all health and safety training required by DCDEE.
● CPR/First Aid certified.
● Meet with parents to discuss student progress a minimum of twice annually (Fall and
Spring.)
● Track student growth.
● Adhere to a daily teaching schedule and provide a copy of the classroom schedule to the
Director and parents.
● Adhere to all Staff Procedures for Children’s World found in the Staff Handbook.
● Maintain an accurate record of student absences and tardies.
● Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules of DCDEE.
● Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behaviors that are conscientious and responsible.
● Attend staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
● Participate with administrative staff in meetings regarding placement of new students as requested.
● Supervision of students always.
● Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants.
● Communicate with parents as needed providing information on student progress and behavior via email, phone, or notes home. Maintain a log of these communications throughout the year.
● Implement relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
● Respect the confidentiality of NC Pre-K students, parents, and staff.
● Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth.
● Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn.
Minimum qualifications:
Certification/Education:
AAS in Early Childhood Education
Preferred:
● NC B-K Continuing License
Experience:
● Childcare experience preferred
Knowledge, abilities, and skills:
● Build strong, communication based relationships with children, their families, and other staff members.
● Promote literacy throughout the classroom and evidence of learning.
● Mastery of classroom management and excellent communication skills as well as a team player.
● Strong organizational skills.
● Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior.
● Skill in keeping students engaged.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
