SUMMARY: Ensures effective maintenance, safety, and compliance with company and industry specifications and standards are adhered to by employees. Plans, organizes, and directs all on-highway and off-highway maintenance and cost tracking activities including the receiving, storage, readiness and inventorying of all tools, attachments, vehicles, construction trucks and equipment. Projecting and cost tracking of all operational costs via purchase orders, inventory/GPS system, including parts, labor, consumables, fuel, etc.
Essential Responsibilities and duties:
Including, but not limited to the following. These duties are subject to change to accommodate the needs of the company.
- Implement company objectives and strategies to maintain an effective equipment program including procurement, distribution, tracking, repairs and maintenance. Ensures company preventive maintenance/repair programs are in place for all tools and equipment, tracking servicing, location and costs.
- Manage and direct effective maintenance and repair programs, equipment safety programs, and equipment utilization. Ensure compliance with all City, State and Federal regulations.
- Assist management, shop staff, and accounting with equipment budgets and rates for existing and potentially purchased equipment. Provide support as necessary.
- Act as a technical advisor to management, project management and shop staff. Assist foreman, mechanics and support personnel as needed. Manage GPS functions for all equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain files of records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for all equipment and tools, including CARB and DMV reporting, as well as all inventory and insurance lists.
- Maintain shop and remote corporate yards as necessary, ensuring safe and effective working conditions.
- Manage/assist drivers transportation of equipment, tools, and materials to and from job sites and c yards to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Perform additional assignments and duties as required and/or as directed.
Other skills and abilities include:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative management style. Ability to work well with others, lead a team and drive change if necessary.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience, with applicable degree preferred, working with heavy trucks, equipment and vehicles, with understanding of safely repairing/maintaining equipment, sourcing parts, developing and maintaining excellent relationships with vendors, suppliers and co-workers.
- Valid drivers’ license and acceptable DMV record; CDL a plus. Vehicle allowance also possible.
- Experience with software—Viewpoint/Vista; MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) a plus.
