Job Title: Director
Job Description: The Director is a leadership position which reports directly to the stakeholders with a significant influence on school policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will work together with stakeholders to ensure children and their families feel known and appreciated for their individual gifts and personalities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate all of the center and child care regulatory trainings such as conducting emergency preparedness drills, Pediatric First-Aid & CPR, orientation, pre-service & annual continuing education training, etc.
- Oversee the operation of the center including conducting and maintaining developing and implementing a transition system, classroom and staff scheduling, classroom ratio checks, operational and financial management responsibility while achieving all quality assurance standards.
- Comply with all licensing requirements and cultivate positive relationships with the State of Texas and any of our regulatory licensing bodies.
- Manage the center's programs and curriculum.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping including staff and children files, in addition to building, property, and classroom records.
- Manage budget, payroll, and petty cash.
- Conduct staff orientation, new and continuous training, complete periodic staff reviews, facilitate monthly, bi-annual, and in-service staff meetings.
- Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum within the context of the local school district and conduct a curriculum review meeting three times per year.
- Provide staff assistance with lesson plan preparation and theme development. Review lesson plan books, posted lesson plans, daily activity reports, and child portfolios.
- Develop and maintain a substitute teacher list.
- Keep abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development and actively participate in professional organizations, conferences, and lectures.
- Develop and manage summer programs.
- Recruit, interview, hire and manage staff.
- Create and implement professional development for staff.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED minimum; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Must be, or have the credentials to become a certified State of Texas Child Care Director.
- Prior staff and operational management experience in a preschool environment.
- Prefer current (or previous) Director experience.
- Demonstrate highly effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Must have experience managing faculty, curriculum, and lesson planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage payroll through a payroll system.
- Clear background history, applicant must be able to pass all FBI Criminal, Department of Public Safety, and State Childcare Licensing Background Checks.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, Saturday trainings, and community events, as required.
- Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and good work ethic at all times.
- Must be a team player, a team builder, and committed to professional development.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
- Ability to maintain composure under stress.
