We are currently seeking a qualified Facility Maintenance Technician / Custodianfor our distribution center located in Romulus, Michigan. BE PART OF OUR TEAM!
This position will perform a diversity of duties including performing minor building repairs such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting for both the interior and exterior of the building. Individuals will be responsible for implementing preventative maintenance measures, maintaining an inventory of repairs and supplies, complete inspections of office and warehouse, and respond quickly in an event of a maintenance emergency. Individuals will advise when to hire contractors to perform specialty work and oversee their performance and installation. This position is responsible for ensuring that all building systems, equipment, and facilities in their charge operate at peak efficiency. This position is responsible to complete all custodial duties.
Position Overview:
- Schedules maintenance tasks to minimize impact on production and increase the efficiency of maintenance resources.
- Contact vendors to schedule maintenance tasks, and maintain a positive relationship with all vendors.
- Maintain that all doors are operating properly (soft closing, latching).
- Replace bulbs, and make sure lamps are clean. Perform any minor electrical work when required including outlets, and switches.
- Conduct minor carpet and wall repairs, including paint touch ups.
- Repair base moldings and false ceiling.
- Support in layout changes when changes occurs.
- Report/repair water leaks.
- Signage installation, alignment, and preservation.
- Keep all the floors free of unsafe conditions, including office and warehouse space.
- Maintain toolboxes, keep inventory of repair materials and equipment ordered.
- Clean, adjust or change column protector shells.
- Compactor cleanliness & around compactor.
- Operate floor scrubber weekly.
- Provide basic maintenance to Eddy current and X rays & other existing machines.
- Maintenance of the wrapping machine. (Anchors, shock absorbers, illumination, ventilation)
- Empty trash bins in and around building.
- Screw Compressor - Purge valve. Lube Air tools.
- Small floor repairs including chips and repainting of floor lines.
- Test and change emergency lighting and exit signs annually.
- Sweep and mop building.
- Maintain a clean and manicured exterior building appearance, including grass cleanliness, raking, and cleaning trash debris around landscaping.
- Pavement cleanliness; sweeping debris from parking lot.
- Eliminate/ Replace dead trees and bushes.
- Repair of Asphalt and Concrete, paint parking spots.
- Clean ramps. Clean sidewalks and empty cigarette deposits.
- Clean all restrooms.
- Light plumbing.
- Install fixtures.
- Company vehicle maintenance.
- These responsibilities are not all inclusive, other duties and special projects will be assigned.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The individual is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally the Individual is required to sit and climb or balance. The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
Education and Experience:
- Previous 2-3 years of building maintenance experience; High School diploma/GED.
- Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
- Climb a ladder up to ten feet.
- Experienced in operating a variety of equipment including lawn equipment, small hand tools, driving floor sweeper/scrubber.
- Ability to perform all custodial functions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
