Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Provides accurate information about the physiology, psychology, and sociology of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
- Provides skills to assist women and their support persons to cope with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
- Acts as a facilitator who helps couples better understand and value their experience as they transition into parenthood.
- Provides an avenue for communication between the pregnant women and other members of the health care team.
- Serves as an advocate for pregnant women, their partners and infants.
- Communicates accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and early parenthood in a clear, concise, understandable manner
- Serves as a resource to the community by developing and planning programs in response to identified needs.

WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital
Celebrating over 100 years of community care, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is a nationally recognized acute care community hospital, serving more than 100,000 residents from the greater Adams County and northern Maryland area. The hospital offers services that include neurosciences, orthopedics, oncology and infusion, OB/GYN and interventional heart and vascular care. Our patients can receive a full range of heart services close to home— from preventative care and diagnostics to medical and interventional treatments, to cardiac rehabilitation. The specialists of WellSpan Cardiology perform procedures at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital’s newly renovated catheterization lab, equipped with the latest technology and equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Diploma Program in Nursing Required or
- Associates Degree Required
Work Experience:
- 1 year In OB specialty (labor and delivery, maternity, NICU). Required
- Experience as an educator in a health related field/organization. Preferred
Licenses:
- Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Preferred and
- Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of adult and childhood educational principles.
- Strong communications skills.
