Job Summary:
Optimization of global trade compliance for packaged international shipments into North America.
Job Description:

Lead the daily activities for import compliance operations, including reports, daily workload and projects.

Ensure full compliance of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, entry valuation and country of origin.

Assist in deployment and conducting of internal training to ensure Trade Compliance knowledge is pervasive throughout the company.

Work closely with the Trade Compliance Manager to implement and maintain work instructions, policies and Trade Compliance manuals.

Conduct regular reviews, import compliance audits, review corrective actions, evaluating broker compliance and broker metrics.

Work with internal and external legal counsel to ensure compliance for all import transactions.

Assist in identifying opportunities and strategic planning for duty minimization.
- Review and monitor all rejections, requests for information and other correspondence.

Respond and assist with complex customer inquiries, including research and assistance with escalation on priorities.
- Work in ACE Portal and monitor communications and notifications within the portal.

Work within Amber Road to ensure potential matches in the work queues are reviewed frequently.

Stay current of U.S. Customs regulations through self-study, approved related courses and seminars, and regular review of trade publications.
Education and Experience:
-
Minimum of 2 years of import experience preferably with a Customs broker, NVOCC, or freight forwarder.

Bachelor’s degree in business (management, marketing, accounting, finance), supply chain management, or industrial distribution.

Extensive knowledge of importing and North American cross border shipping.

Working knowledge of documentation and recordkeeping requirements, USMCA, Free Trade Agreements, OGA’s, ACH, and all other related trade legislation, rules, and regulations.

Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with ability to implement and conduct training.

Strong organizational, multitasking, problem solving, and time management skills to meet or exceed deadlines, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, evolving environment.

Ability to work effectively with all levels within the corporation, including Legal, Commercial and Finance teams.

Strong attention to detail and proficient recordkeeping and database maintenance skills.

Ability to work both as part of a team and independently to make effective decisions in a timely manner.
