Big Green, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, believes that growing food changes lives. We are on a mission to help everyone in America grow their own food. We provide vital resources to organizations and individuals working to grow food in their communities, including grants, gardening materials and supplies, training, and community.
The Vice President of Operations will serve as a member of the Executive Team at Big Green, overseeing the entirety of the organization's operational functions. These functions include product and product development, supply chain, logistics, and compliance, as well as deep collaboration on finance, human resources and workforce planning, and organizational oversight and leadership. The VP of Operations is a strategic thinker, thoughtful planner, and exceptional leader who is excited about building on the successful operations of a growing organization.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and execute comprehensive operational strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives, identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancement across all operational functions.
- Optimize supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution, to meet organizational needs and minimize costs. Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance standards and processes to ensure consistently high-quality products and services.
- Oversee the human resources and finance functions through successful management of internal staff and fractional resources. Facilitate collaboration with organizational leadership, internal staff, and outsourced fractional resources to produce quarterly reports, manage relevant deadlines, and curate and deliver presentations to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders.
- Provide visionary leadership to the product and operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration and cooperation, accountability, and continuous improvement while creating opportunities for growth and development.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, including those related to safety, compliance, and business continuity.
- Leverage technology solutions to streamline operations, improve decision-making, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing Big Green’s operations.
- Establish performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance and drive accountability.
- Champion a partner-centric approach to operations, ensuring that processes and systems are designed to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of Big Green’s key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategic partnerships that support operational objectives and drive organizational growth.
- Lead change management initiatives to facilitate organizational transformation and adapt to evolving market conditions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Proven track record of success in senior operations leadership roles, with 7-10 years of experience in progressively responsible positions.
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to translate vision into action.
- Demonstrated expertise in process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferably in a high-growth organization.
- Sound decision-making abilities and the capacity to thrive under pressure.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in operations management.
- Familiarity with relevant technology platforms and systems for operations management and reporting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
