C&T Enterprises, Inc. will receive letters of interest for a Line Technician or Apprentice Line Technician position at Citizens’ Electric Company.
Location: The position will be located at the Citizens’ Electric Co. headquarters in Lewisburg, PA.
Qualifications and Skills:
To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A high school diploma or G.E.D., with a two-year technical certificate or completion of an accredited line college/training program (preferred).
- Must have a basic knowledge of line construction equipment and materials, systems including substations and all related equipment, and the principles of electricity.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of and adhere to OSHA Regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Applies problem-solving skills to identify and utilize basic troubleshooting techniques to promptly resolve issues, demonstrating the ability to balance multiple duties and priorities.
- Utilizes excellent communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, contractors, utility inspectors, vendors, and consultants.
- Ethics: Demonstrates respect for a diverse workforce and internal/external constituents, keeps commitments, accepts responsibility for actions, inspires trust, works with integrity, and upholds organizational values.
Responsibilities:
As the Line Technician or Apprentice Line Technician, the candidate's responsibilities will include:
- Under close supervision and direction, perform groundwork related to the maintenance, operation, and construction of distribution apparatus and lines.
- Become knowledgeable about and adhere to all company safety rules, construction specifications, and applicable OSHA regulations.
- Participate in tailboard safety meetings and monthly safety meetings.
- Become familiar with the proper fitting and use of climbing equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Become familiar with the Company’s distribution system and equipment, such as capacitors, regulators, reclosers, and three-phase transformer banks.
- Learn to read, interpret, and understand both digital/online and paper distribution system maps.
- Become knowledgeable in the proper operation, inspection, and maintenance of trucks and associated hydraulic equipment, buckets, diggers, power, and hand tools as required.
- Under close supervision and direction, install and maintain substation equipment.
- Under close supervision, develop proficiency in pole climbing and develop skills in overhead and underground work on de-energized lines.
- Under supervision, perform PA One Call Locates and respond to emergency One Calls.
- Develop a basic understanding of the principles of electricity.
- Under close supervision, work with journeymen linemen to restore system outages during and after regular hours.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas and garage.
- All aspects of electric line construction and maintenance commensurate with the applicant’s expected progress to Journeyman classification.
- Communicate and coordinate with all employees to receive or give pertinent information that will result in the company's safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
- Communicate with customers, the general public, contractors, and other utilities.
- Other related work as assigned.
Special Working Conditions:
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Be available at night and on weekends due to outages, emergencies, and scheduled after-hours work.
- Must maintain a Class A CDL.
- Occasional overnight travel required.
