Under the general direction of the Chief General Counsel, Paralegal provides support to the Legal Services Department regarding litigation, landlord tenant law, and document control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts research of federal, state, and local statutes, records decisions, legal articles, legal codes, and other legal sources and reference materials.
Implements and administers eviction and general litigation dockets in support of CMHA legal staff.
May assist preparation of legal documents, including, but not limited to, legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, affidavits, legal documents, briefs, contracts, reports for review, approvals, and signature of and/or use by licensed attorneys.
Files legal documents with local courts and recorder’s office.
May assist in preparation of documents, exhibits, and pleadings for litigation; may review documents on behalf of attorney.
Prepares legal descriptions for Declaration of Trust. Prepares real estate documents for home ownership program.
Notarizes CMHA legal documents as necessary.
