Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Meet with individuals in their homes to assist with areas of need.
No personal care.
Assist with meal planning, food shopping and food prep
Assist with household maintenance and promoting a safe living environment
Assist with health care maintenance including scheduling and accompanying individuals to appointments, and/or assisting with follow through on doctor's recommendations. Advocating for care with doctors, insurance , family, funding sources
Assist with planning for recreational and /or therapeutic activities and/or 'free-time' activities
Assist individuals to read and respond to mail, complete applications as needed
Assist individuals to maintain certifications for public benefits, e.g., food stamps, health insurance, housing, social security benefits
Assist with budgeting, banking and money management
Assist individuals to maintain important relationships with persons of importance to them, e.g. family members, friends, employers, landlords
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent accepted
Persons with a bachelor degree in a human service area will be considered for additional tasks
Required Work Experience:
2 or more years supporting individuals with varying needs, including persons with developmental disabilities required
Skills
Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Working knowledge and ability to use MS Word and email
Ability to work with efficiency both independently as well as in team environment
Strong creative, critical and solutions-based thinking
CPR and First Aid required or may be obtained with 90 days of employment
Valid driver's license preferred but not required
Bilingual with Spanish a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 12 per week
