General Job Description:
Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a
Practical Nursing Instructor who will be responsible for education and supervision of the students in his/her charge utilizing curriculum which follows the Board approved, occupation-based curriculum design, which is delivered in a flexible manner as individual student needs dictate to develop knowledge, skills, work ethics, and compatible attitudes for employment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current unencumbered professional license as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master's Science degree in nursing (preferred), School Ed/Administration or related field
- At least three (3) years successful occupational experience in the skill area to be taught; said skill to have been the major assignment in the experience.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Plans, prepares and delivers required materials and information in assigned program in the classroom, lab or clinical setting, following State Department of Education minimum criteria for effective teaching performance, ODCTE evaluation criteria, and Board required information and activities.
2. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates those objectives to students.
3. Studies material and prepares in advance for classes with necessary curriculum, supplies and/or equipment.
4. Incorporates the use of digital instructional methodologies into lesson plans including blended learning, e-learn and other nontraditional approaches.
5. Instructs and monitors students’ in the use of learning materials, equipment and technology.
6. Assigns and grades class work, homework, assignments, projects, tests and provides feedback in a timely manner.
7. Observes and evaluates student progress and/or performance in all educational settings.
Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students.
9. Ensures all eligible students are prepared to take licensure and /or certification exams
10. Communicates an understanding of basic psychological needs of the student by demonstrating an interest and concern for the development of each student’s ability and effective growth.
11. Adapts teaching materials and methods of instruction to facilitate and expedite the skill development of each student relative or teaching his/her training objective.
12. Maintains professional level of competence in skill areas and instructional techniques.
13. Makes regular industry visits to develop network for skill upgrade, advisory committee development, and student job placement.
14. Plans and conducts advisory committee meetings at least semi-annually to insure that all training is relevant and current, utilizing a committee which has been approved by the Site Director.
15. Maintains records and provides information on all students as required by the ODCTE, the administration and the Board.
16. Maintains individual program inventory of items.
17. Requisitions through the Site Director for materials, supplies, and equipment in a manner which reflects planning ahead of actual needs.
18. Demonstrates, encourages and maintains safe conditions throughout the shop and classroom areas, cooperating fully with the District and campus safety committees and appropriate authorities.
19. Attends workshops, conferences and staff meetings, etc., as approved and required by the administration or Board of Education.
20. Upholds the policies and procedures of the Board of Education and supports the organizational management philosophy of the District. Works cooperatively and in harmony with co-workers and other District employees.
21. Attends work regularly following a designated work schedule. Must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities. Must be able to attend and participate in meetings and conferences as scheduled.
22. Demonstrates dedication to working with students in an objective and fair manner regardless of handicap, race, sex, national origin, age, or socio-economic background, refraining absolutely and entirely from sexual harassment and exploitation; follows the standards of conduct and performance as adopted by the State Board of Education.
23. Demonstrates the ability to read, speak clearly and deliver presentations; ability to operate instructional equipment; and ability to move around the classroom.
24. Performs any duties as may be required by the administration or Board of Education, commensurate with a classroom teacher position.
