The NETA Business Center, which provides accounting services for public broadcasting organizations and projects, seeks a Controller to support the work of the Senior Controller in managing the work for the clients that are assigned to that team. This position works closely with the Senior Controller, Staff Accountants, and clients to ensure timely and accurate daily, monthly, and yearly processing for all aspects of accounting functions. This is a fast-paced, team-based work environment, and the ability to multi-task is a requirement of this position.
REGULAR DUTIES:
Accounts Receivable -Prepare client invoice requests, assure proper G/L coding before Staff Accountants enter them into our accounting software (MAS 500.)
Accounts Payable- Apply proper G/L code to vendor invoices, work with clients to code properly, and obtain necessary documentation. Once these invoices are entered and posted by the staff accountant, the controller is responsible for ensuring the weekly check runs are completed by coordinating with clients and monitoring cash flows.
Cash Management – Oversee deposit entry and work with senior controller to maintain cash flow balances and tracking.
General Ledger – Record journal entries as required and maintain worksheets monitoring deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.
Monthly Financials – Assist the Senior Controller in the month end and year end processing functions, and help prepare financial statements and analysis.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (An equivalent amount of training, education and experience will also be considered.)
Bachelor’s degree preferably in finance or accounting;
Minimum five years’ work experience in accounting;
Operational knowledge, fluency with accounting software and electronic spreadsheets;
(Familiarity with NETA’s MAS 500 platform is desirable)
Experience working with not-for-profit public broadcasting organizations preferred;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent organizational skills with proven accuracy and attention to detail;
Exceptional ability to problem-solve;
Strong positive interpersonal skills;
Ability to self-manage and influence others to meet commitments;
Ability to take responsibility and ownership for tasks and to use initiative and creativity;
