Position Overview: We are seeking an innovative and dynamic Education Director with a robust background in STEM, robotics, coding, AI, drone technology, 3D printing, and VR experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating and implementing educational programs that excite and engage young minds, preparing them for the future in a rapidly evolving technological world. This role requires a strategic thinker, an effective leader, and a collaborative team player who can inspire both staff and club members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Design, develop, and implement cutting-edge STEM programs, including robotics, coding, AI, drone technology, 3D printing, and VR, that cater to various age groups and skill levels.
- Direct Student Support: Tutor and counsel children and assist them with their homework as needed.
- Curriculum Management: Create and oversee a comprehensive and cohesive curriculum that aligns with current educational standards and club goals.
- Leadership and Supervision: Lead, mentor, and support a team of educators and volunteers, ensuring high-quality program delivery and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Partnerships and Collaboration: Establish and maintain partnerships with local schools, universities, tech companies, and community organizations to enhance program offerings and resources.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Develop and implement evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness and impact, and use feedback to continuously improve program quality.
- Budget Management: Oversee the budget for educational programs, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial policies.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with organizational policies, local regulations, and best practices in safety and child protection.
- Community Engagement: Promote programs and engage with club members, parents, and the broader community to increase participation and support for educational initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an educational or youth development role with a focus on STEM; experience with robotics, coding, AI, drone technology, 3D printing, and VR is essential.
- Leadership: Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in curriculum development and program evaluation. Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Passion: A genuine passion for working with youth and a commitment to fostering their growth and development.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with STEM technologies and tools, including robotics kits, coding platforms, AI applications, drones, 3D printers, and VR equipment.
REQUIRED HOURS: School year afternoons are required except during school vacation weeks. Primary hours are Monday through Friday 3:00 to 6:00 PM with an early 12:30 PM start on Tuesday to conform to the Newton Public School system. Preparation time is available pre or post shift and some tutoring hours could be added to the schedule in the evenings as desired/needed.
Health Insurance from Allways and Dental Insurance from Delta is available and is 80% employer funded, Life Insurance and Short and Long Term Disability are 100% employer funded. 5% employer funded pension is available after 1 year. 2 weeks paid vacation is provided along with a generous allotment of personal and sick time
