Duties:
1. Wound Care Management
- Assessing and treating acute and chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and traumatic wounds.
- Developing and implementing wound care plans based on assessment findings, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Providing education to patients, families, and caregivers on wound care techniques, dressing changes, and prevention of wound complications.
2. Ostomy Care
- Assisting patients who have undergone ostomy surgery (colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy) in adjusting to life with an ostomy.
- Teaching patients and caregivers how to care for the stoma, apply ostomy appliances, manage ostomy-related complications (like skin irritation), and maintain skin integrity around the stoma.
3. Continence Management
- Evaluating patients with urinary and fecal incontinence to determine causes and contributing factors.
- Developing individualized continence management plans that may include behavioral techniques, pelvic floor exercises, and use of incontinence products.
- Educating patients on bladder and bowel retraining programs, toileting schedules, and strategies to improve continence.
4. Patient Education
- Providing comprehensive education to patients, families, and caregivers on wound care, ostomy care, and continence management.
- Addressing psychosocial concerns related to living with wounds, ostomies, or continence issues and promoting self-care and independence.
- Ensuring patients have the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their condition effectively at home.
5. Consultation and Collaboration
- Consulting with healthcare providers, including physicians, surgeons, and other members of the healthcare team, to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Collaborating with other specialty nurses, such as wound care nurses, enterostomal therapists, and continence advisors, to provide comprehensive care for complex patients.
Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum 1 year Wound, Ostomy, Continence experience for the last 3 years.
- BLS and ACLS (AHA), and WOC Certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Shift: 5x8, Day Shift (7a-3p)
Pay Rate: $55-65/hr
