Multiple opportunities exist for Senior Data Analysts to perform in-depth qualitative and quantitative analyses on problems of importance to U.S. national security. Whether assessing risk within the Defense Industrial Base, isolating inefficiencies in business operations, or quantifying how investments drive performance outcomes and align with strategic aims, you will enjoy the challenges posed by complex and significant problems. Armed with a quantitative mind and an understanding of the tools required to dig into data, Senior Data Analysts know how to use data to solve hard, client problems and enjoy doing so.
Senior Data Analysts develop new methodologies to answer client questions and communicate data-driven insights to executives in the national security community. They also oversee cross-functional teams to produce compelling data visualizations, written papers, and briefings. Someone who is analytical, curious, and driven to solve problems and have an impact will thrive in this role.
With an understanding of defense acquisition processes and an appreciation for effective and efficient program management, you garner professional respect when leading conversations with top DoD and government agency officials. And, knowing that there are always multiple answers to hard problems, you masterfully facilitate constructive dialogue to find the best path forward.
Responsibilities
- Oversee cross-functional teams of analysts to deliver innovative, novel and high-quality analysis and drive improvements to the company's product offerings
- Use quantitative tools to clean, manipulate, and synthesize multiple streams of unstructured data
- Conduct quantitative analysis to establish objective and accurate views of business operations, producing valuable insights for customers and recommendations to improve performance
- Orally and visually present data-driven findings in a concise and compelling manner to executives and government officials
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in key knowledge areas such as OSINT investigative analysis, Supply Chain Risk Management including IT-related SCRM (ICT SCRM), industrial base, manufacturing, and production areas, technology scouting and technology application, defense acquisitions and program management, government procurement, supplier assurance, federal contracting, and/or Planning, Programming, Budget, and Execution (PPBE)
- Willing to travel between 25% and 50% (Typical travel is Tuesday - Thursday and varies from a week to every other week each month.)
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship –
- U.S. citizens who are eligible and willing to undergo the clearance process to obtain a federal security clearance up to the TS SCI level
- For current clearance holders, all levels of U.S. federal clearances can be held
- Master’s Degree (or PhD) in Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, STEM Field or 2+ years of equivalent experience
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R
- Experience scoping and overseeing multiple, complex analytical projects
- Excellent professional demeanor with a willingness to work without hesitation outside of your comfort zone in a fast-paced environment
- Referenceable history of exceptional performance conducting innovative and high-quality analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, experience presenting complex analysis to non-technical stakeholders and extracting the ‘so what’ from the data
- Demonstrated leadership in national security-related analysis with teams of junior analysts, providing quality assurance (oversight or methodology) and mentoring
- 4-6 years of experience performing national security-related analytics. (Preferred skills include research, quantitative analysis, data manipulation, and data visualization.)
- Experience in or exposure to the nuances of a startup or other entrepreneurial environment
