2nd Shift Lathe Set Up / Operator Role:
The role reports to the shift production supervisor. This role is accountable for setting up and operating the machines necessary to produce the required product in the time and of the quality expected by the customer.
Essential Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Production and Production Support
Accountable for completing assigned production goals within the allotted time and providing technical support and other operators. Responsibilities include:
- 2nd Shift Hire May be asked to temporarily work 1st shift to train and become familiar with process'
- Operate MAZAK turning centers, some with live tooling to assist operations in achieving planned throughput goals.
- Execute proper set-up of machines and correct tooling usage as identified in set-up sheets.
- Complete 1st piece and in process inspections
- Record applicable data.
Provide technical support and leadership to others on the production floor.
Process Improvement
Accountable for identifying and escalation process improvements initiatives to appropriate leadership so that company goals can be achieved. Responsibilities include:
- Identify inefficiencies in workflow and give feedback to supervisor to improve quoting accuracy.
- Provide input for best practices.
Communicate and Collaborate - 5%
Accountable to collaborate and partner with Operations, Sales, Quality, and Office department to ensure company goals are achieved. Responsibilities include:
- Work as a team to coordinate workflow to accomplish daily goals and objectives.
- Offer assistance and support to all members of Weiser to drive teamwork and to ensure workload is balanced as a team.
Personal Growth and Development
Accountable to continuously improve skillset related to current position and career goals. Responsibilities include:
- Maintain proficiency in industry and company standards.
- Proactively improve skills required for current position or future roles according to performance improvement/personal development plan.
- Identify growth opportunities and attend training as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Must be able to set up and tear down work centers.
- Must have own tools.
- Must be able to read / interpret blueprints / load sheets for machines.
- Must have live tooling experience
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and order of operations.
- Proven ability to solve complex issues
- Must understand and have the ability to learn how Weiser’s products, policies and procedures
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision and driven to achieve measurable results
- Must be hands on with a high level of drive, energy and integrity
Physical Demands
- Seeing – Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use a computer.
- Hearing – Must be able to hear well enough to communicate on the phone and in person.
- Standing/Walking/Mobility – Must be able to stand to operate office machinery.
- Sit – Regularly required to sit.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling – Must be able to stoop and kneel for short periods of time.
- Lifting – Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling – Must be able to write, type, and use the phone system.
- Environmental Conditions
- The noise level in the work environment ranges from loud to quiet.
- Work environment is indoors.
- 2nd Shift 4 day work week (Mon-Thurs)

- $24.00-$30.00 Wage/Salary based on Experience
