GENERAL PURPOSE
Inspecting company owned construction and industry related equipment and machinery. The inspection findings will be documented with a detailed report including photograph’s/video. These reports will be used by Fleet staff to determine repairs / maintenance needed.
HOURS
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00AM to 3:00PM and as needed on weekends during the summer. Winter work will consist of various tasks including helping other crews, applicator training and snow removal operations, which may require working nights, weekends, and holidays.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary
Inspects Company owned vehicles and equipment to set standards in regard to the following:
- DOT inspection, as required
- Safety equipment present and functioning
- Oil change, fluid levels, greasing and other ongoing maintenance (including cleaning)
- Registration and insurance
- Incurred and reported damage
Secondary
- May need to operate equipment to test for proper functions for accurate report.
- Reports licensing and insurance needs and errors to the Fleet Department;
- Reports maintenance delinquencies to the Fleet Department
- Typical equipment includes: construction equipment, agriculture equipment, tools and machinery / parts, trucks, machine tools, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
1. Demonstrate the ability to inspect motor vehicles.
2. Demonstrate ability to make job site awareness and safety decisions.
3. Demonstrate the ability with shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic equipment.
4. Demonstrate competent knowledge of the diagnosis and maintenance of heavy and light duty gasoline and diesel engines and related mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic component systems.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Knowledge – Knowledge of the inspection, diagnosis, and maintenance and of Experience with heavy equipment and machinery, such as construction equipment, agriculture equipment, trucks, or industrial equipment a plus.
Abilities – Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a constantly changing environment. Ability to climb on and inspect construction equipment regularly.
Education –High school diploma or GED, associate’s degree or higher discipline strongly preferred.
Experience – Minimum of 1 years of experience. Proficiency in computer skills, applications, and internet.
Skills – Exhibit a strong regard for organizing and prioritizing, as well as an ability to meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and mechanically inclined.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
-This is a fast-paced work environment and you must be able to keep up with the physical demands of the daily work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of time.
-Physical Strength; hand eye coordination and endurance.
-Ability to lift, pull, push up to 80+ lbs.
- Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time.
-Climbing stairs and ladders; tolerate heights up to 20ft.
