JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The IT Network Engineer delivers mission critical infrastructure and ensures the highest level of availability, performance, and security. Manages and monitors all installed systems, servers, security, backups, and redundancy network infrastructure. Plans Cyber Security, network architecture, manages engineering and design needs, including leading small- and large-scale technology projects. Manages the maintenance, configuration, deployment, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers across the LAN/WAN and home networks. Manages phone system and internal and external data lines. Analyzes network data and infrastructure needs and functionality to determine inefficiencies, maintains up times, and solves problems by designing network architecture and computer systems infrastructure. Serves as escalation point of contact for I.T, the customer support desk, and stakeholders. Works closely with contractors, vendors, and business partners to increase the reliability and quality of Colorado 811 s security, network hardware, phone system, and software solutions. Duties also include managing inspection, audits, maintenance, repairs, and compliance requirements with focus on relevant local and national regulations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regularly perform deep dives on complex network operations and technical issues across networks and systems, such as business process defects, operations compliance non-conformance, technical troubleshooting to resolve hardware failures and network issues
- Anticipate potential operational risks and develop a mix of support & oversight strategies (e.g., self-audit, compliance) to mitigate/minimize risks
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization
- Lead the efforts to secure networks by establishing and monitoring security enforcement, policies and defining network access
- Establish and maintain networking environments by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
- Support detailed planning & management of all regulated controls throughout network and lifecycles
- Capture requirements and collect/document product specifications and maps
- Support senior managers in building project schedules in line with stakeholder expectations
- Support delivery of software, network launches, and new feature releases
- Produce and maintain test results, troubleshooting logs, ticket reproduction information and new requirements gathering and documentation
- Lead in systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with Colorado 811 users, to determine hardware, software and system functional specifications and needs
- Design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing and modification of computer systems or programs, including prototyping, based on, and related to user or system design requirements and specifications
- Manage or Administer VoIP Phone System in Five9
- Collaborate with other network engineers and personnel on network routing
- Ensures the secure deployment, maintenance, and backup of cloud and server resources
- Network resource allocation including management of IP assignments
- Manage and administer Cloud hosting and storage solutions (AWS and Azure)
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN hardware and configurations
- Evaluate service providers and vendor products, hardware, and software
- Participate in industry organizations and/or committees as requested
- Participate in and improve issue/event escalation and emergency response, including detailed after-action review to prevent future recurrences
- Proactively respond to Alerts (24X7 for Critical Alerts such as Support Tickets, IoT Sensor Alerts (Server Room Temperature, Moisture Levels, SAAS & Cloud Based Alerts (Status Page), Vendor Email Alerts, End Point Security Alerts, Cyber Security Alerts via AI network monitoring platform, etc.)
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT, MAINTENANCE & CONFIGURATION:
- Configure System monitoring tools and alerts, Data Center Computer Room cleanliness and maintenance, manage external / Internal DNS
- Network Switch Firmware and PC/Workstation Software Updates
- Provision New Workstations & Hardware
- Patch Management - Server Security Patches and Server Software Updates
- Wireless Network Security Patches
- Develop and increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Knowledge sharing through cross training other team members to increase overall team capabilities, skills, and abilities to support the networks
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED SKILL-SET:
- Proficient in multiple and current versions of Windows, Apple Mac, and other operating systems
- Working knowledge and application of IP networking, switch routing, address assignment, VLAN and QoS
- Proficient in open-source Linux, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Storage, Telnet, JIRA, PC & Apple Mac, MS Office 365, MS Teams, SharePoint, One Drive, Dropbox, etc.
- Ability to manage and integrate multiple unrelated systems and database connections.
- Strong knowledge in developing IT Operations best practices, including expert knowledge of data and cyber security, storage, data protection, and disaster response and recovery.
- Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills, self-propelled work style
- Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, translate complex system requirements into comprehensive architecture designs with focus on alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Propensity to drive the optimization of clinical workflows and user experiences, leveraging human-centric design principles and data analytics to enhance product usability, safety, and diagnostic capabilities.
- Ability to manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to commercialization, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of projects while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Computer Engineering (Test, Support & R&D), database, network administration and/or system administration is required.
- 3+ years of experience with network operations in a call center environment preferred.
- Experience in providing technical and operations guidance to internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Five9 Phone System experience preferred.
- Azure Cloud Networking or comparable is required.
- Previous telecom/broadband or IT/Networking industry preferred.
- Familiarity/experience with compliance frameworks & security-related standards (e.g., ISO, NIST) is required.
- Vendor Management and internal stakeholder facing Delivery Experience preferred.
- Robust experience in installation and maintenance of LAN/WAN systems is required.
- Relational database management and cross-platform database integration experience preferred.
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, preferred.
- Experience in scripting and automation tools is required.
- Experience with Group Policy Management and Active directory is required.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing IT network strategy and plans is required.
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of network components is required.
- Solid experience in administration and performance tuning of application stacks is required.
- Experience with network mapping and documentation creation experience is required.
- Solid Cloud experience in Google or Amazon Cloud is required.
- Robust experience in monitoring systems and Cyber Security Threats is required.
- Proven script writing skills required (Python, SQL, etc.) are required.
- Proven networking and phone system management knowledge (API, TCP/IP, OSI network layers, etc.) is required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Engineering, Science in Technology, Math (STEM) or related subjects is required. Master s degree preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor, in-office contact center, hybrid remote work environment

HOURS:
Regular business hours 7am-5pm, with occasional off hours work as needed to ensure system maintenance, uptime, and support.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
