Job description for Group Lead

Our Client is responsible for transporting new vehicles from the manufacturer plant to satellite lots and is seeking to hire a SUPERVISOR yard leader for their Taylor lot.
Position Summary
Group Leader, Yard Mgmt. report directly to the designated Yard Manager.
Accountabilities include. Service development; coordination with Yard Manager and Team Leaders to
ensure service commitment and realization.
Group Leader will also have responsibility for Work Quality Standards, Loss and Damage Prevention.,
Claims, Document Control, Safety and handle personnel matters.
Group Leader will present damage prevention or process changes as required. They will attend
customer meetings, phone conferences, understand customer requirements and meet or exceed their
expectations. Group Leader will generate alternatives and make recommendations on improving area
work process.
GL will fill in for the Yard Manager as necessary and ensure all processes are documented and update
as necessary.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Building and dispatching loads for transportation carriers
2. Creating and filing damage claims
3. Vehicle tracking, management of production vehicle builds
4. Inspection and arrival of inbound vehicles.
5. Managing a staff of 25 employees. Very fast paced environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Education
4-year college degree or 4 years’ management experience.
Training
1. Demonstrated “expert” level usage of MS office products including Excel, Access, and Power Point.
2. Understanding and experience with Total Quality management
Skills
1. Teamwork, decision-making, problem solving, communications, customer focus, confidentiality,
planning, organizing, process management, tolerance of ambiguity, and time management.
2. Analytical skills
3. The ability to determine trends and anomalies
Experience
1. Successful Team Leader or equivalent experience in a prior position.
2. Experience with meeting valid external customer requirements, supervisory/managerial
capabilities, process management, and PC skills.
