SUMMARY OF POSITION
Four Sisters Inns is looking for an experienced maintenance person to work between two beautiful hotels in Santa Monica, and Playa del Rey. This person will play a major role in keeping the properties functioning, and has well rounded knowledge of multiple trades including but not limited to: electrical, plumbing, drywall & texture, painting, framing, machinery, etc. Our maintenance person will be able to assist managers with heavy lifting, moving of furniture and mattresses, etc. With experience in quality craftsmanship, this jack-of-all-trades will be essential in keeping the property beautiful and operational.
When We Need You
- 4 or 5 days per week, 6 to 8 hours per day
- Some shifts will be scheduled at our Santa Monica location and some will be in Playa del Rey

WHAT YOU’LL DO (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Performs property maintenance duties including general plumbing repairs, electrical, painting and other related duties as assigned. Frequently uses gasoline/electrical power tools such as drills as well as hand tools including hammers, saws, wrenches, pliers and cutters.
- Makes purchases for equipment repairs. Responsible for ensuring expenditures remain within established limits. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Maintains grease traps. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose the problem or repair the machine.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
- Assists in establishing, maintaining, and overseeing all safety policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal safety regulations, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
- Uses equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures, uses appropriate safeguards, and observes common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities.
- Maintains work and storage areas in an organized fashion.
- Establishes a system to perform preventive maintenance and painting in individual rooms and common areas.
- Speaks with a Manager or the President if the scope of the work exceeds his/her knowledge.
- Performs other tasks as requested by the Manager or Home Office Staff.
- Starts work day at one inn. If required to travel to purchase supplies or perform maintenance duties at another inn, uses personal vehicle and submits an expense report for mileage reimbursement.
- Keeps a log of work performed on a daily basis and submits with payroll.
- Conducts self in a manner reflecting credit on Four Sisters Inns and encourages others to do the same.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with management and other employees of Four Sisters Inns.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense to various issues that arise on a regular basis.
