We are looking for a dynamic individual able to lead the month-end and quarter-end close process, produce monthly ALCO and quarterly regulatory reports, oversee Vendor Management while directing day-to-day accounting operations. Strong communication and leadership skills are a must for mentoring and managing the accounting staff. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required to facilitate reporting efficiencies, extracting data from system reports to assist various departments with general ledger related questions. Participate in the management and planning of the annual budgeting process. Ensure that reports, accounts, systems, policies, and practices adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position reports directly to the Vice President, Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the financial accounting process which includes, but is not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaids, the posting of journal entries, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Month End Close includes but is not limited to the preparation and review of general ledger reconciliations, reclassification of journal entries, recording of accruals and assisting the Controller with the preparation of the credit union's and CUSO's financial statements.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for the accounting department. Ensure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations and that the accounting procedures are in strict compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Regulatory filings include but are not limited to filing the 5300 Call Report for Credit Unions on a quarterly basis.
- Vendor Management process includes working with executive management team to ensure that all contracts and due diligence documentation are ascertained.
- Participate in special projects which may include, but are not limited to accounting research, analysis, and special projects requested by management.
- Assist Controller with investments, ALLL/CECL calculations, ALCO reports, audits and regulatory examinations, budgets, and tax returns.
