Medical/Dental Receptionist for busy, growing practice
Columbia Center for Sleep Apnea and TMJ is looking for an upbeat and energetic addition to our team. We treat chronic facial pain disorders, jaw joint dysfunction, and obstructive sleep apnea through primarily non-surgical therapies.

The front desk receptionist will assist the team at Columbia Center for Sleep Apnea and TMJ as we help patients. The right candidate will be eager to learn and grow in this position. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. A positive attitude is critical for this office. Organization and professionalism are also required.
The ideal candidate will have office and/or customer service experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
As the front desk receptionist, you will be the first face our patients see when they come seeking treatment and the first voiced they hear when calling the office. You will assist in scheduling appointments, collecting payments, obtaining and maintaining medical records, referrals and providing quality customer service to current and potential patients.
- Schedules and registers patients in a friendly and professional manner; registers all patients in the EHR system; verifies services and payer information, notifies the person(s) being visited; stays within the vicinity of the reception area at all times and coordinates with the Practice Administrator for substituting during any absence.
- Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously; screens calls, transfers caller to correct individual; does not leave caller on hold or unattended for more than 2 minutes; takes and complete and accurate messages when person called is unavailable and distributes messages in a timely manner.
- Checks the answering machine in the morning, after returning from lunch, prior to leaving for the day, and retrieves messages and delivers them accordingly.
- Responsible for ensuring that the reception area is open and presentable prior to seeing patients scheduled for the day.
- Obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information prior to patient appointments.
- Assist with medical insurance billing and coding
- Promptly and correctly enter data in computer and thoroughly document patient encounters.
- Provide patients with estimated costs for services and insurance assistance.
Qualifications:
- Proven work experience in medical or dental office and familiarity with HIPAA compliance.
- Medical insurance and billing knowledge
- Demonstrable exceptional customer service
Hours:
- Weekday hours
- 32+ hours weekly
