MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL - MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE
To assist Press Operator in setting up, adjusting, operating, cleaning, and general loading/unloading of a flexographic printing press to produce quality printed film for customer packaging needs. Assistant may be assigned to the Set-Up Team to prepare materials and equipment for upcoming orders and/or may run the press alone while the Operator is on break.
II. Duties
1. Takes direction from Press Operator and assists in any way possible to help meet the maximum output of production with desired quality while maintaining a clean and safe working area.
2. Drops splices and corrects the guide.
3. Keeps press area clean, cleans up excess powder, and keeps dirty rags in proper containers.
4. Cleans unit not in use.
5. Checks stock for next order and has stock brought to press if needed.
6. Ensures that all setup material is ready for next order, including aniloxes.
7. Brings cylinder with gear assembly for next order to press for Operator to check.
8. Assists Operator in washing units and changing cylinders.
9. Washes pans needed on next job first and then other pans not being used.
10. Helps set ink pumps into ink containers, and pumps ink into pans.
11. Puts roll of film on press and sets it properly. Assists Operator in registering job.
12. Weighs return film and notifies Press Operator and Crew Leader of return film, identifying order number and weight.
13. Participates on Set-Up Team if requested. Assistant duties either as part of Set-Up Team or independently include:
A. Prints SOC for upcoming job.
B. Orders ink and takes to press when ready.
C. Orders film and make ready.
D. Locates cylinders, gears cylinders, oils and greases gears and bearings.
E. Takes all material and ordered parts to the press. i.e. doctor blades, totes, pans, pump filter baskets.
F. Cuts cores.
G. Gets empty buckets and cylinder carts if needed.
H. Washes cylinders, plates and aniloxes. Scrapes and washes anilox ends before covering. Ensures that all aniloxes have the correct tags on them.
I. De-gears aniloxes and cylinders. Breaks down and returns all gears and parts to proper places.
J. Returns aniloxes and cylinders to plate cylinder processing area.
K. Puts labels and lock rings on ink and “slop” buckets and returns them to ink room.
L. Cleans up when order is finished. Returns parts totes, pans, doctor blade units (P 19-40).
M. Cleans and builds blade units for Presses 19 – 25.
N. Cleans all PM parts that are returning to press – tubes, dryers, racks, anilox ends.
O. Empties trash. Sweeps and mops floor. Cleans and organizes parts room and enters work orders for broken parts.
P. Keeps parts room supplied.
Keeps records as required.
Reports damaged or worn-out equipment to Press Operator and Crew Leader.
Maintains a clean, safe work area. Maintains self and work area to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and other prerequisite food safety programs.
Assists in the training of new or inexperienced Assistant Press Operators.
Performs Press Operator duties periodically for training for automatic progression to the Operator classification or when the Press Operator is away from the press temporarily.
All other duties as assigned by Crew Leader or Management.

Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 60 per week
