Exam Proctor
Rennert International New York is looking to hire test proctors for in-person, high-stakes testing for the Occupational English test - https://www.occupationalenglishtest.org/. The test is usually held twice a month on Fridays and there are two distinct roles for proctors. There is no grading required. All roles require signing a confidentiality agreement and training.
Following is a description of the duties for each proctor:
Interlocutors
Interlocutors conduct the Speaking sub-test role play with the candidate in order to produce an assessable, recorded sample of speech. Unlike an interviewer who asks a set of prepared questions, an Interlocutor actively takes part in a conversation with another person. There are role play scenarios you are given and expected to play.
Requirements for Interlocutors
Interlocutors must have:
- a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- overall English language proficiency equivalent to the CEFR C1 or higher
- clear diction including minimal interference from the first language in pronunciation
- linguistic accuracy
- the ability to communicate in the interview context and participate in the role play competently and confidently.

Invigilators
Proctor group of 15 exam candidates. Monitor candidates to ensure there is no cheating, etc. Invigilators must undergo training on commencement of their employment and any additional training must be conducted as required. Invigilators need to have an overall English language proficiency equivalent to the CEFR C1 or higher.
Invigilators need to be competent in:
- checking IDs, detecting impostors, and preventing fraud
- conducting candidate confirmation using myOET Invigilation Portal
- reading out verbatim the full instructions of ‘How to deliver the sub-tests’
- vigilance about the use and misuse of electronic devices by candidates
- ensuring OET Test Regulations are followed by all candidates
- initiating emergency procedures in the venue
- using computers and sound equipment
