Key Accountabilities
· This role will support the HR/Safety & Compliance manager in achieving our fleet operations' highest safety and compliance standards.
· Assist in developing, implementing, and overseeing Contractor, OSHA, DOT and Fleet Safety practices.
· Assist in developing fleet safety strategies to align with all regulatory agencies and contractor requirements to achieve fleet safety excellence.
· Develop and monitor recommendations to achieve Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal, State, and local compliance issues throughout the company.
· Working cooperatively with Operations, Safety, and HR teams.
· This position requires knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) and OSHA with the ability to ensure compliance.
· Maintain accurate records of safety data and metrics.
· Conduct regular one-on-one and group meetings with drivers, traffic control, supervisors, and safety teams to address concerns, provide feedback, and reinforce safety protocols.
· Foster a safety-first culture by promoting open communication and collaboration.
· Assist in conducting safety follows and observations in compliance with contractor requirements and the ability to coach and train. Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
· Strategize and implement initiatives to reduce over-the-road accidents and incidents year-over-year.
· Conduct thorough investigations into accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and develop preventive measures.
· Drive efforts to achieve a year-over-year reduction in DOT violations through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Stay abreast of changing regulations and ensure company-wide compliance.
· Work with mechanics to track and record all vehicle Planned Maintenance through Samsara and Prophecy in compliance with the DOT.
· Oversee vehicle compliance with the California Air Resource Board, including Truck and Bus Regulations and Clean Truck Checks.
· Implement and monitor health and safety programs.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA rules and regulations is required.
· Onsite safety inspections will include the yard, office, shop, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.
· IIPP and SDS compliance and upkeep
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and or STS-C/CHST/CUSP/CSHM or Additional certifications from an accredited institution
- OSHA-30 + 2 Years formal training, knowledge, or experience with work operations and hazards in the field OR
- OSHA-10 + 3 Years of formal training, knowledge, or experience with work operations and hazards in the field
- Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA rules and regulations is required.
- Background in trucking/transportation preferred.
- Knowledge of CA Air Resource Board Truck & Bus Regulations and Clean Truck Check.

- Requires the ability to work 80% in the field and 20% in the shop/office.
- Requires the ability to work in adverse weather or temperature conditions and to wear and work in PPE.
- Must be able to navigate active sites. This includes safely walking up and down ladders, cranes, uneven ground, and obstacles.
- Pass a Fit for Duty exam and be able to lift/push/pull 50lbs.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test with quarterly random drug testing requirements.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle, which is insurable under the company’s vehicle policy.
